Cambium Learning® Technologies and The Max Warburg Courage Curriculum, Inc. are excited to present the 2009-2010 "Courage in My Community" Essay Competition.  The goals of this collaboration include engaging students in the reading and writing process; encouraging students to write about their personal experiences with courage; and continuing to integrate technology with English Language Arts curricula.

To help students find inspiration in reading and writing, we invite middle school students (grades 5-8) to take part in the “Courage in My Community” writing contest.

Your students will write a descriptive, personal essay about witnessing courage in their community or family, or about personal acts of courage they have faced, and how that courage has made an impact in their lives. For additional guidelines please visit our official rules page.

Students may draw inspiration from award-winning essays, written by sixth grade students participating in The Max Warburg Courage Curriculum.

Prizes will be awarded to multiple students and schools throughout the duration of the contest. In addition, we encourage schools to deepen their experience by exploring and implementing “The Max Warburg Courage Curriculum.”

GOOD LUCK AND HAPPY WRITING!
